 India’s Jeev Milkha Singh held off the combined challenges of Major champions Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els to triumph in the US$5 million Barclays Singapore Open by one stroke on Sunday.
Singh’s stunning victory, courtesy of a gutsy final round of two-under-par 69, also virtually sealed a second Asian Tour’s Order of Merit title in three years as he made history by becoming the first player to surpass US$1 million in earnings in a single season.

South African star Ernie Els put his name atop the leaderboard at the US$5 million Barclays Singapore Open after completing his first round in five-under-par 66 on Friday morning.

American Bryan Saltus was painfully forced out of the Barclays Singapore Open today after dislocating his right knee on the first hole.
Saltus, winner of last year’s Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open, was playing his second shot on the par four opening hole on the Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club.
He slipped and his knee popped out sending the Californian crashing to the ground.

Lam Chih Bing raised hopes of becoming the first local winner of the US$5 million Barclays Singapore Open when he fired a sparkling four-under-par 67 for the clubhouse lead on Thursday.
The 31-year-old, an underachiever on the Asian Tour despite his enormous talent, eclipsed the big guns at Sentosa Golf Club with an opening round that included five birdies against a lone bogey.

Australian Adam Scott will be aiming to cement his place in the history books by claiming an unprecedented third title at the US$5 million Barclays Singapore Open starting on Thursday.
The Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong course has been a favourite hunting ground for Scott after triumphing in Asia’s richest national Open in 2005 and 2006 before falling short of his hat-trick bid when he finished third last year.

Padraig Harrington of Ireland, a double Major winner in 2008, wants to win the US$5 million Barclays Singapore Open to round off the best season of his career.

“Big Easy” Ernie Els is itching to tee it up in the US$5 million Barclays Singapore Open, a tournament he describes as “world class.”

Thailand’s Pornsakon Tipsanit grabbed a dream spot in the US$5 million Barclays Singapore Open on Monday at the sixth play-off hole of qualifying.
The 33-year-old Pornsakon sank a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th green of the Tanjong Course at Sentosa Golf Club to eliminate countryman Piya Swangarunporn and Singapore amateur Jonathan Woo.

The best of Asia, led by the six recent Order of Merit champions, will be aiming for a famous victory at the cash-rich Barclays Singapore Open next week.
Eighteen of the current top-20 players from the merit list will also be in the elite field at Sentosa Golf Club from November 13 to 16 where world number two Phil Mickelson, two-time winner Adam Scott and Padraig Harrington, a double major winner this season, will headline the US$5 million full-field Asian Tour event.

The Asian Tour has announced a change of dates for the Barclays Singapore Open and HSBC Champions in November.
 
Both the US$5 million events will swap dates on the Asian Tour Schedule where the HSBC Champions in Shanghai will now be played from November 6-9 and the Barclays Singapore Open will be held from November 13-16.
 
The HSBC Champions, won last year by American Phil Mickelson, will be played at Sheshan International Golf Club while the Sentosa Golf Club will host the Barclays Singapore Open, won by Argentine Angel Cabrera last year.
