Indian Masters, Johnnie Walker Classic »

The Asian Tour stays in India for this week’s US$2.5 million Johnnie Walker Classic at DLF Golf and Country Club. This is the first time in the event’s history that it will be played in the sub-continent.
 
A strong line-up of international stars will tee up on Thursday which includes the likes of Vijay Singh, Adam Scott, Colin Montgomerie and Asia’s stalwarts Jeev Milkha Singh, Liang Wen-chong, Jyoti Randhawa and Thongchai Jaidee.

India’s rising star S.S.P Chowrasia enjoyed a sensational home triumph at the Delhi Golf Club when he lifted the EMAAR-MGF Indian Masters title on Sunday.
 
Chowrasia, the son of a greenkeeper in Calcutta, enjoyed his maiden breakthrough on one of his favourite golf courses in India after a solid five-under-par 67 for a winning total of nine-under-par 279.
 
The 29-year-old champion walked away with the top prize of US$416,660 and currently leads the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit ranking.

Indian star Jyoti Randhawa renewed his love affair with the Delhi Golf Club when he blasted a seven-under-par 65 for the opening round lead at the EMAAR-MGF Indian Masters on Thursday.
 
Randhawa, who has won five times on the historical course, enjoyed a two stroke lead thanks to an eagle on the final 18th hole at the US$2.5 million Asian Tour and European Tour event.
 
Englishman Richard Finch was in joint second place alongside Ireland’s Damien McGrane who shot matching 67s. Local hotshot Shiv Kapur was in a tie for fourth position …
