Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng held on to his one-stroke lead to triumph at the Dunlop Phoenix tournament in Japan Sunday.
Prayad, 42, was five shots ahead with eight holes left but double-bogeyed the par-three 11th and bogeyed the par-four 12th to leave the door open for his rivals.

Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng booked his place for the British Open after a one stroke triumph at the Mizuno Open on Sunday.
 
The in-form Thai will have a chance to redeem himself after the US Masters when he sealed his win in Japan thanks to a final birdie putt on the 18th hole for a superb six-under-par 65 at the Yomiuri Country Club.
 
Prayad had competed in the US Masters in April but he was forced to withdraw after nine holes in the second round due to a back injury.

Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng believes the spirit of his late coach and mentor will be the 15th club in his bag as he challenges for Masters glory starting on Thursday.
 
The sweet-swinging Thai is aiming to become the first player from his country to play in all four rounds at Augusta National Golf Club and wants to put up a successful campaign to honour the late Supphaphorn Maphungphong, who died last November.
 
“It wasn’t only my dream to play in the Masters, it was also Supphaphorn’s dream,” said Prayad on Tuesday.
